about whispering glades
Location
Whispering Glade is a haven for creatures of all kinds. Concealed by a dense canopy of towering trees and surrounded by natural barriers of thick undergrowth and winding streams, the sanctuary offers peace and protection to the wild inhabitants of Eorzea. Founded by Aria Ilyndra, a Keeper of the Moon and skilled beast tamer, the Glades stands as a testament to her unwavering love for the natural world and her deep bond with the creatures she has spent her life protecting.
A Refuge for all Creatures
Whispering Glades is a sanctuary where animals, whether small or large, common or rare, find solace and safety. Injured beasts, orphaned younglings, and even endangered species are welcomed with open arms. Each resident is provided with tailored care, from handcrafted shelters and specialized diets to dedicated spaces designed to mimic their natural habitats. Aria’s knowledge of beast taming and her ability to communicate with animals ensures that every creature feels secure and understood.
A Harmony of Nature & Compassion
The sanctuary is built on the principles of harmony and balance. Every feature of the Glades, from its crystal-clear ponds to its sunlit meadows, is designed to coexist with the natural environment. Aria works tirelessly to preserve the delicate ecosystem, planting native flora and maintaining the flow of streams to ensure that the Glades thrives. Her fox companion, Bodhi, often acts as her second pair of eyes and ears, helping her keep a close watch over the sanctuary’s residents.
A Place of Discovery & Healing
While the sanctuary’s primary purpose is to care for animals, it also serves as a place of learning for those fortunate enough to find it. Visitors are welcome but must abide by the rules of the Glades, respecting the creatures and the tranquility of the space. Aria shares her knowledge of beast taming and the natural world with those willing to listen, offering guidance to adventurers, healers, and scholars alike. The sanctuary is a place where one can reconnect with nature, discover hidden wonders, and find peace among the whispering leaves.
Protecting the Wilds, One Life at a Time
Aria’s mission extends beyond the sanctuary’s borders. She often ventures into the wilderness, rescuing creatures in need and standing against those who threaten the balance of nature. Whispering Glades is not just a sanctuary; it is a symbol of hope and a reminder of the responsibility all adventurers bear to protect the beauty of Eorzea’s wilds.

RESIDENTS
Greyson
Perched atop Greyson, the gentle giant of Whispering Glades, Aria sways with each lumbering step of the goobbue. Her eyes shine with a mix of excitement and tranquility as she pats his mossy shoulder."Good boy, Greyson," she murmurs with a smile. "You’re already making this place feel even more magical."Around them, the sanctuary comes alive with soft rustles and chirps, as if the other residents welcome their new companion in unison.
Finley
Aria crouches low beside the oddly spry funguar, her eyes crinkling with amusement as she runs her fingers over his soft, spongy cap. Finley wiggles slightly in response, making a sound somewhere between a squish and a squeak.“I can’t believe I thought you were just a regular mushroom,” she chuckles, shaking her head. “And here you are, wobbling around like you own the place. You’re so silly, Finley.”The funguar bounces in place, as if he’s proud of his successful disguise, drawing a warm laugh from Aria as she scratches the underside of his cap. “Alright, you win. Welcome to the Glades, my little trickster.”
Thorn
Seated comfortably on the broad, mossy neck of Thorn, the slow-moving adamantoise, Aria shields her eyes with one hand, squinting against the bright sunlight. The gentle sway of Thorn's steps mirrors the rhythmic creak of his shell as he plods forward through the sunlit path. The distant treetops of Whispering Glades peek above the horizon, but she tilts her head, double-checking the direction.“Hmm… almost there, Thorn,” she murmurs, patting his rough, sun-warmed scales. “Just a bit further, and we’ll be back home.”Thorn lets out a low, rumbling sound, almost as if in agreement, his pace steady and unwavering. Aria smiles softly, trusting the towering tortoise beneath her to keep her on course.
Caviar
Aria stood with her arms crossed, watching in exasperation as Caviar, the dodo, flapped around Bodhi in relentless pursuit. The small, clumsy bird kept darting toward the fox, pecking at his tail and squawking loudly with each failed attempt to catch it. Bodhi, who usually had the patience of a saint, was darting in and out of the bushes in an effort to escape the persistent pecking.“Caviar, stop it!” Aria called out, rubbing her temples in frustration. Despite the bird’s absurd antics, she couldn’t help but feel a fondness for him. He was, after all, a part of her sanctuary, and he had a way of worming his way into her heart— annoying as he was.Caviar paused for a moment at the sound of her voice, his large, goofy eyes blinking up at her in innocent confusion. After a beat, he hopped forward once more, clearly determined to catch Bodhi’s tail.Aria sighed, shaking her head but unable to hide the amused smile tugging at her lips. “You drive me crazy, but I still love you,” she muttered, crouching down to gently scoop Caviar up. The dodo flapped his wings, protesting, but she held him close, his soft feathers tickling her arms. “Now, you’re going to stay with me for a while, okay? No more chasing Bodhi.”Caviar let out a loud, disgruntled squawk, but with a final, defiant little flapping motion, he settled into her arms, still warm and surprisingly soft despite the chaos he caused. Aria couldn’t help but chuckle.“Honestly, Caviar…” she muttered fondly, giving him a small, affectionate ruffle. "You’re lucky you're so cute."
Artichoke
Artichoke, or "Artie" as Aria affectionately called him, was a massive glyptodon with a thick, armor-like shell that gleamed in the sunlight. When Aria first stumbled upon him, she had been so taken by his unique appearance that she blurted out, “You look like an armadillo!” But, in her moment of forgetfulness, the word escaped her, and she instead called him "Artichoke." The name, as awkward as it was, stuck.Despite his grand size, Artie was surprisingly gentle and endearing. His lumbering gait and slow, steady movements were softened by his calm demeanor, and Aria quickly grew fond of his quiet presence. His thick, spiked shell made him an impressive sight, but it was his soft, trusting eyes that truly won her heart.“Come on, Artie,” Aria would often say with a grin, watching him waddle over to her with that slow, methodical pace of his. “You’re a big guy, but you’re all heart.”Artie was a gentle giant, always by Aria’s side, and she loved the warmth he brought to the sanctuary. The name may have started as a mix-up, but it had turned into a symbol of the quirky, lovable nature of the creatures she cared for. And in the quiet moments of the Glade, Artichoke— Artie— was always there, a steady, peaceful presence.
Florence & Clover
Originally, they had been brought in to be companions for Clementine, the black sheep who Aria had rescued with some help, of course, but as time passed, the trio had become inseparable. Florence, with her playful energy, often led the group on little adventures around the sanctuary, while Clover, more docile and calm, kept close to Clementine, offering a quiet sense of companionship.Together, they made the sanctuary a brighter place— Clementine’s more independent spirit softened by Florence's lively antics and Clover's quiet support. Aria often found herself smiling as the three sheep grazed in the meadow, their peaceful presence filling the air with a serene, almost magical energy. There was something about their bond that was simply... comforting."You're all quite the trio," Aria would often say with a fond laugh, watching them huddle together as the sun set behind the trees. "A little family of your own."And in the gentle rhythm of their bleats, the shuffle of their hooves, and the peaceful way they moved together, Florence and Clover had found a home— and in turn, made the sanctuary feel more like a true family.
Buckbeak
When she had first found him, injured and unable to fly, Aria's heart had raced with a mix of excitement and worry. Griffins were among her favorite beasts— noble, powerful, and proud— and to see one in need of help filled her with both a sense of urgency and the thrill of the opportunity to heal such a magnificent creature. To her surprise, Buckbeak had been remarkably gentle from the start. His golden eyes were keen but warm, his movements slow and careful as he allowed her to tend to his injury. Despite his regal nature, he showed no signs of aggression, and when Aria approached, he would lower his head in a display of trust, allowing her to stroke the soft feathers along his neck. His warmth and openness to the touch of man were unexpected, but Aria welcomed them with open arms, knowing that healing wasn’t just physical— it was a bond forged through trust.Aria smiled as she ran her fingers through the feathers along Buckbeak's neck, marveling at the quiet connection they had already formed. “You’re going to fly again,” she whispered, her voice full of promise. "And when you do, you'll soar higher than ever before."Buckbeak let out a soft, low chuff, nuzzling her hand in response, and for a moment, it seemed as though he understood. With time, Aria knew, the griffin would heal— his broken wing would mend, and the strength that radiated from him would return. But for now, Aria was content to be in his presence, savoring the rare gift of caring for one of the wildest and most beautiful creatures she had ever encountered.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon, the red Apkallu, was a burst of energy and color wherever he went. His vivid crimson feathers shone brightly in the sunlight, and his playful antics never failed to bring a smile to Aria’s face. He had a strong belief in his own ability to fly, despite the fact that his small wings were nowhere near capable of lifting his round body off the ground. Every day, he would attempt to take off— fluttering, hopping, and flapping his wings with all the determination of a seasoned adventurer, only to land in a soft, flurry of feathers with a disgruntled chirp. But Cinnamon never gave up. Every failure was met with even more enthusiasm as he launched himself into the air again, convinced that the next attempt would be the one that worked. Aria couldn’t help but laugh at his persistence, watching him with a fondness reserved for the truly determined.“Don’t worry, Cinnamon,” she chuckled, crouching down to pat his head as he gave her a hopeful look. “You’re getting closer every time. Just keep trying.”Cinnamon puffed out his chest, his bright eyes gleaming with resolve as he gave another determined flap of his wings, ready for his next attempt. There was no doubt in Aria’s mind— this little bird was nothing short of relentless.
Charlie
Charlie, the little green Apkallu had been a constant companion since the moment Aria first encountered him. With his bright feathers and mischievous eyes, he had been an amusing, if somewhat persistent, presence around the Glades. No matter how many times Aria gently shooed him away, the quirky bird always seemed to find his way back, flapping merrily and chirping as if he had every right to be there. At first, Aria had tried to deter him, but she soon found herself laughing at his antics— his habit of hopping up beside her, puffing out his chest proudly, and cocking his head as though asking, Why not? It wasn’t long before she realized he wasn’t leaving, no matter what she did. With a soft chuckle, she finally surrendered, patting the Charlie’s ruffled head. “Alright, alright,” she said with a playful sigh. “I suppose you're one of the residents now.”From that day on, Charlie was a permanent fixture at Whispering Glades, following Aria wherever she went, offering his silly trills and brightening even the most ordinary moments with his infectious energy.
Bambi
Bambi, the island stag, stood in the dappled light of the forest, his fur a stunning blend of silver white, and black hues that shimmered with each gentle movement. Aria had been drawn to him immediately— his unique colors unlike any creature she had ever seen. But as she stepped closer, the beauty of his coat did little to mask the painful history etched across his body. His sides were marred by deep scars, his legs bearing the marks of battles fought and the hardships he’d endured.Aria's heart sank at the sight, and without hesitation, she knelt in front of him, her lilac eyes full of compassion. "You've been through so much," she whispered softly, her voice a calming presence amidst the quiet rustle of the forest. Her hand extended toward him, trembling slightly with the desire to offer comfort. The stag watched her with cautious eyes, his movements slow and hesitant. But as the moments passed, he made no move to flee, allowing Aria to draw closer. She stroked his mane gently, her touch light but filled with quiet promise."You’re safe now," she murmured, her voice steady, offering the love and care he so clearly needed. "I’ll give you a home, a place where you can heal."Bambi’s ears twitched as he lowered his head to graze the grass near her, a sign of tentative trust. Aria smiled softly, her heart swelling with a sense of purpose. She would make sure this wounded soul knew nothing but care and affection from this day forward.
River & Forrest
River and Forrest stand side by side, their bright plumage ruffling gently in the wind as they graze in the clearing. River, the sleek, golden-feathered chocobo, is always the more curious of the two, her sharp eyes scanning every movement with interest. Forrest, though identical, has a more reserved demeanor, keeps a careful watch over her, his large, amber eyes gleaming with quiet wisdom.Aria stands at a distance, smiling softly as she watches the pair interact with each other and their surroundings. She remembers the days when River and Forrest were feral, wild and untamed, their mistrust of humans making it nearly impossible to approach them. But with time, patience, and gentle care, Aria had earned their trust— tending to their wounds, feeding them, and allowing them to grow comfortable in their new home.“They’ve come a long way, haven’t they?” Aria murmurs to herself, her eyes soft with pride as she watches them.River snorts softly, nudging Forrest playfully as if to show off her new tricks, like obediently trotting on command or allowing Aria to brush through her feathers. Forrest, ever the cautious one, trots a little closer to Aria, his large head tilting as if asking for reassurance.“I think you two are ready,” Aria says, kneeling down and holding out her hand. River cocks her head in curiosity, while Forrest hesitates before cautiously stepping forward. "Ready for a home, ready for a companion. Just need the right person to see you for what you truly are."Both chocobos nuzzle her hand gently, their eyes bright with trust and affection. While River and Forrest may no longer be wild, they are still untamed in their own way— full of spirit, love, and the potential to be the perfect companions for someone who understands them, just as Aria does.
Ambrose
Ambrose stands near the edge of the sanctuary, his massive form casting a long shadow over the lush grasses. His fur is thick and dark, resembling the coat of a giant bison, though with a strange, almost ethereal glow to it. His large, gentle eyes flicker with curiosity as he watches Aria move about, his massive horns sweeping out to either side in slow, lazy arcs.Aria carefully approaches, her brow furrowing with concentration as she crouches beside him. She gently lifts one of his hooves, her fingers brushing over the rough pads. She remembers the day she found him— injured, dragging himself slowly across the forest floor, a large rock lodged painfully in his foot. Without hesitation, Aria had tended to him, and since then, he's been one of the most peaceful and trusting residents of the Glades."How’s that foot today, Ambrose?" she murmurs, her voice soft and comforting as she presses her palm against the healed pad. The giant creature snorts, nudging her with his large head affectionately, nearly knocking her over with his surprising strength.“Easy there, big guy,” she laughs, brushing the dirt off her hands as she pats his side. "I still don’t know what to call you, but I’m glad I found you. You’re a good one, aren’t you?"Ambrose snorts again, his large tail swishing in contentment, his eyes soft with trust. Though Aria doesn’t know what he is, she knows he belongs here— just as much as the rest of her creatures.
Clementine
The lost black sheep stands awkwardly in the clearing, her wool matted and covered in bits of dirt and leaves. A dented iron pot sits firmly stuck over her head, her muffled bleats of frustration echoing faintly from within. The poor black sheep stumbles blindly, bumping into tree roots and stones as she tries to shake the pot loose.Aria kneels beside her, biting back a chuckle as she carefully steadies the sheep with a gentle hand. “Alright, alright, hold still,” she says softly, her ocean eyes sparkling with amusement and sympathy. With a bit of effort and some help from her friends, she wiggles the pot free, revealing the sheep's wide-eyed, bewildered expression. The sheep blinks at her rescuers, then lets out a triumphant bleat before headbutting Aria’s leg affectionately.Aria laughs, scratching behind the sheep's ears. “Well, aren’t you a troublemaker? I suppose you’re mine now.” She glances around at the quiet forest, a thoughtful smile spreading across her face. “Maybe… maybe this is where it all begins.”And from that moment, the idea of Whispering Glades began to take root, sparked by one determined little sheep with a pot on her head.
Iris
Iris stands atop a rocky outcrop, her sleek, snow-white fur shimmering under the sunlight. Her sharp, curved horns glint faintly as she stomps her hoof in warning, a clear signal to keep their distance. Her eyes, a striking shade of amber, dart nervously toward Aria, her muscles taut and ready to bolt. Though her stance is strong and defiant, the faintest flick of her ears betrays her unease, especially when she catches sight of unfamiliar figures.Aria approaches slowly, her voice soft and soothing, carrying no threat. “Easy there, Iris,” she murmurs, crouching low to appear smaller. “I’m not here to harm you… just to be your friend.”Iris hesitates, her gaze flickering between Aria and the surrounding forest. A gust of wind ruffles her fur, and she paws at the ground, unsure. But Aria doesn’t move any closer, just waits with patience, her eyes filled with quiet determination. Bit by bit, the nanny’s rigid stance eases, though she keeps a wary distance. Aria smiles faintly— this will take time, but she’s ready to earn Iris’s trust, step by step.
Elsie
Aria gently guided the black chocobo into the sanctuary, her hands steady and reassuring as she led the bird past the lush green of the Glades. The sunlight filtered through the canopy, casting dappled shadows across the path, and the air was thick with the peaceful hum of nature. Aria’s ocean-colored eyes sparkled with warmth as she glanced up at the chocobo, her lips curling into a soft smile. She could feel the animal’s initial nervousness, the tension in its muscles as it stepped lightly across the earth. But there was also curiosity in its eyes— curiosity that Aria hoped to nurture."This is a safe place, full of kind spirits and gentle creatures," she murmured, her voice soft and soothing, like a melody carried by the breeze. She ran her fingers through the chocobo's sleek, midnight-black feathers, feeling the coolness of its coat beneath her touch. It was a stark contrast to the lively yellow hues of some of the other birds, but there was something regal about this one— something that drew Aria to it immediately. "I think Elsie suits you perfectly— a strong and beautiful name for a strong and beautiful girl."
Juniper
Aria crouched down in the soft grass of her animal pen, her eyes glowing with gentle warmth as she gazed at the trembling doe before her. The poor creature was thin and weak, its tawny coat marred by scratches and dirt, signs of the hardships it had endured in the wild. Its large, doe eyes flickered nervously as it sniffed the air, its frailty evident in the slow, cautious movements. Aria’s heart ached for it, for the struggles the doe must have faced alone.“You’re safe now,” she murmured softly, her voice carrying the melodic lilt of someone who’d spent years speaking with creatures rather than people. Her words were a gentle hum, soothing in their cadence, meant to offer comfort in a language that the doe could understand better than any human's.She extended a hand, palm up, offering the doe a handful of fresh greens. The delicate leaves shimmered in the sunlight, their freshness a stark contrast to the roughness of the doe’s condition. The doe hesitated for a moment, her eyes flickering between Aria and the offering, but the hunger was clear in her gaze, and with a tentative step, she edged closer.Aria’s smile deepened, her eyes soft with patience as she continued to hold out the greens. “It’s okay,” she whispered, her voice low and inviting, “there’s no need to be afraid. You don’t have to run anymore.”
